MWFitness is headed by Mike Williams!

Mike Williams
Company Director, Personal Trainer and Sports Massage Therapist

As the director of MWFITNESS, I am committed to providing excellence. Since qualifying in 2004 I have strived to be and offer the best.

Immediately following my graduation, I was headhunted by Cannons Health Club (now Nuffield Health) in Bishop’s Stortford with the task of setting up and running in-house Personal Training at just 19 years of age. In 2005 I received an invitation from WEST HAM UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB to join the first team medical staff, working with some of the best Physiotherapists and sports scientists in the country.

I have been lucky enough to work with world champions and elite sporting athletes.

In 2006, I created MWFITNESS. Working as a free-lance Personal Trainer, with a car boot full of equipment working 16-hour days travelling to clients’ houses delivering 1-to-1 Fitness Sessions and Sports Massage Therapy.

I received a phone call from Colchester United Football Club in 2008 with an offer of joining their Medical Team. This involved travelling all over the country with the First Team helping with Injury re-habilitation and preparing the players for match day.

In October 2010, I opened up MWFITNESS PERSONAL TRAINING AND WELL BEING STUDIO where clients can come and enjoy the full package that is ‘the MWFITNESS experience’.

On-Site Therapists

Jill Spence - Lic Ac. MBAcC

Jill trained at the College of Traditional Acupuncture, Leamington Spa and The College of Integrated Chinese Medicine, Reading. All members of the British Acupuncture Council are required to participate in a programme of CPD and Jill has been involved in numerous workshops and seminars on many health-related topics, including workshops with Zita West on Fertility and Pregnancy. In recent years I have seen a considerable increase in the numbers of men and women who seek treatment for fertility problems. It is encouraging that acupuncture can play an effective role in this area. I have a particular interest in all aspects of women's health, including obstetrics and gynaecology.

Nowadays many people are familiar with acupuncture and recognise the effectiveness of using a more holistic and natural approach for the promotion of good health and wellbeing, as a complete system in itself, but also, where necessary, working alongside Western medicine.

Jill has been practising in Hertfordshire for 25 years and works at MW FITNESS on Tuesdays. Jill also has a clinic in Welwyn Garden City. All enquiries treated in strictest confidence. Tel - 07964 041495

    Edward Waller

Edward is a traditional acupuncturist with a long-term interest in health. He completed a degree specialising in acupuncture augmented with complimentary techniques including gua sha, cupping, therapeutic massage techniques, auricular acupuncture and western medical acupuncture.

Edward is also a keen sportsman. He currently teaches Tae Kwon Do at a number of clubs and regularly competes at national and international levels.

As a member of the British Acupuncture Council (which is the main governing body for the practice of acupuncture in the UK) I aim to exceed the highest ethical standards and work to strict local and national health and hygiene standards.

I have spent considerable time working in the NHS (specialising in pain elimination and reduction through acupuncture) at Broomfield hospital. Working at Broomfield hospital has furthered my insight into using acupuncture in combination with Western medicine, in addition to its use as a stand-alone therapy.

My interest in acupuncture has been a natural progression from an early interest in sport and fitness, through general health to acupuncture specifically.

Edward is registered with many of the health insurance companies that now provide cover for acupuncture and is happy to discuss any questions you have regarding acupuncture and the benefit you can expect from it.
